HTCA Triangle Garden Wins Award of Excellence Two Years in a Row!

Deborah Perry attended the 25th annual Keep Montgomery County Beautification Award dinner last week and is pleased to report that, for the 2nd year in a row, the HTCA Triangle Garden won the Award of Excellence for a Community Non-Professional garden. Terese and Deborah would like to thank all those who have volunteered their time and money this past year in helping to make the garden a success!

Fall Festival 2011::Sunday October 2

Live Jazz music performed by our own talented neighbors, a kids’ bouncy house, great conversation, and delicious treats! The success of our Centennial Celebration last fall encouraged us to host another free festival. All residents are welcome! Bring your whole family plus a dish of food to share. (Grilled hotdogs and hamburgers provided). Sunday October 2 from 4-7:30pm at lower Lincoln Street. Contact Amy Shiman (301) 803-7038 to volunteer with HTCA welcome booth, food/beverage, decorations, setup up, or clean up.

Fall Community Meeting

Please come to HTCA’s fall community meeting on Tuesday, September 20 at 7pm at Bradley Hills Elementary School. We will discuss the HTCA Board’s recent meeting with Suburban Hospital regarding its expansion and vote upon our next course of action. We will also honor select volunteers and discuss other local concerns.

Home improvements and new construction projects are a reality when you live in such a desirable neighborhood. Find out the rules and how to report violations. Note that generators, even for temporary power outages, must comply with county noise limits. See the new section, Residential Construction Tips, under “Huntington Terrace”. Thanks to EPA consultant and resident Vera Ashworth for her research in this area.

Community Yard Sale

All residents in Huntington Terrace are invited to participate in a community-wide yard sale on Saturday April 2 from 8am-3pm. (Rain date April 9). HTCA will pay for advertisement of this event and post signs along major streets. Residents are encouraged to host their individual sale of furniture, books, clothes, electronics, lemonade/brownies, etc. on their own property, or work with their immediate neighbors. HTCA Spring Meeting

Please join us at the spring community meeting on Thursday, April 7 at 7pm at Bradley Hills Elementary School. We have invited the Department of Environmental Protection to inform us of county financial incentives and technical assistance to install landscaping at residential properties. (Up to $1,200 per home is available!). We will also discuss issues affecting the neighborhood, such as sidewalks on Greentree Rd., the park renovation at BHES, the hospital’s proposed expansion and other matters.

Huntington Terrace Turns 100!

Nothing says Huntington Terrace like Monster Truck. Ok, that may not be true, but it sure got everyone’s attention — especially when it was illuminated at night. Other attractions for the children included a moon bounce, face painting and a trampoline.

The adults enjoyed listening to jazz performed by neighbors, hot dogs and hamburgers provided by (and cooked) the Bethesda Community Store. It was a delightful way to celebrate our wonderful neighborhood’s 100th birthday.
